Betsy Betros - The Fateful Step...and other Adventures in Insect Photography • Sedgwick County
Tuesday, May 16th, 2017 @ 7pm
Great Plains Nature Center • 6232 E. 29th St North • Wichita, KS • Map
Betsy Betros spoke to KNPS at the Fort Scott, 2016 Annual Wildflower Weekend - and her dynamic and humorous presentations are not to be missed. When observing native plants you will encounter the native insects specialized for each plant.
When she turned 50, Betsy got obsessed with photographing butterflies and finding all the species in our region. Chasing butterflies is like having a second childhood…the joy and delight of past childhood days can be found in chasing bugs! This obsession led her to pursuing a lifelong dream of writing some sort of book! The result of this obsession was the publication of her first book in 2008: A Photographic Field Guide to the Butterflies of the Kansas City Region. She continues to work toward improving her bug photography through taking lots of photos and connecting with other bug photographers in workshops. And then in turn, posting images to bugguide.net and odonatacentral.org.
You can also join us for dinner before the program at Panera Bread, 1605 N Rock Road, at 5:30 p.m.
