Gardening with Native Plants • Johnson County
Saturday, Mar 11th, 2017 @ 5:30pm
Prairie Village Community Center • 7700 Mission Road • Prairie Village, KS • Map
Presenter: Lenora Larson A fear of a weedy mess and/or the reaction of their Homeowners’ Association often prevents gardeners from planting natives. However, my garden contains the native host plants for over 50 species of butterflies and there are no “weeds”. Since my garden’s beauty is my first priority, I choose, groom and manage natives just as I do ornamentals. Using butterfly host plants as examples, this presentation will discuss the elements of garden design and provide multiple specific tactics to civilize any overly enthusiastic plants.
Potluck dinner at 5:30; Presentation at 6:45. No charge, no reservation needed.
