Native Plant and Mothing Celebration • Miami County

Saturday, Jul 15th, 2017 @ 7pm-midnight
Long Lips Farm • 27995 Plum Creek Road • Paola, KS • Map

90% of insects, including the Lepidoptera, are highly host-plant specific so focusing on native plants fosters an incredible diversity of moths that will be drawn to mercury vapor lights after sundown. Potluck dinner at 7:00 PM. Bring a dish to pass and adult beverages. People are welcome to come early to enjoy the garden, birds, butterflies and pollinators in action.
Bring a lawn chair. We’ll set up black lights at sundown and should start seeing action by 9:30 PM.
Participants are welcome to further explore the property which includes a lake, swampy woodlot, and a meadow in restoration process.
