Local Authors Outside: Denise Low + Thomas Pecore Weso • Douglas County

Saturday, Dec 30th, 2017 @ 1-2:30pm
Lyons Park (North Lawrence, KS) • 700 N. Lyon St. • Lawrence, KS • Map

Meet local authors as they share connections of their work to outside spaces—enhancing our connections to nature and sense of place. Authors will speak for approximately 20-minutes and then we’ll enjoy a hike! Sturdy shoes and a jacket are recommended; moderate hiking and uneven surfaces are possible.

Meet at Lyons Park. Walk to the former Delaware trading post on Lake St. with Denise Low and Thomas Pecore Weso.

Denise Low, 2nd Kansas Poet Laureate, is an award-winning author of prose and poetry, including The Turtle’s Beating Heart: One Family’s Story of Lenape Survival.

Thomas Pecore Weso wrote the award-winning Good Seeds: A Menominee Indian Food Memoir.

This series of events is co-sponsored by Lawrence Public Library and Kansas Native Plant Society. If there is inclement weather, we will meet inside the Ballard Center, 708 Elm Street in North Lawrence, KS.
