Woodland Wildflower Tour • Johnson County

Wednesday, Apr 18th, 2018 @ 10am
Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens • 8909 W. 179th St. • Overland Park, KS • Map

Lynda Ochs and Ken O’Dell will lead a wildflower tour at the Overland Park Arboretum at 10a.m. on Wednesday, April 18th. We will meet at the visitor center, split into two groups with Lynda leading one group and Ken leading the other group. We will be walking on mulched paths, up and down slopes and hills as we go to the lower bluff area at Wolf creek.
The arboretum has 140 acres of woodlands that have tens of thousands of the same woodland wildflowers you will see in the Missouri Ozarks. In mid April we should see Wild Columbine, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Wild Ginger, Toothwort, Blue-eye Mary, Aunt Lucy, Delphinium, Dutchmen’s Breeches, Bloodroot, Bed Straw, Wild Geraniums, Wild Blue Phlox (perhaps two species), Virginia Waterleaf, Maple-leaf Waterleaf, Wild Impatiens, False Rue Anemone, Turks Cap Lilies, Solomon Seal, False Solomon Seal, May Apples, and a few others. We should see thousands of flowers on the Pawpaw trees.
Registration is not necessary. Just show up at the visitor center with a smile on your face.
