Saturday, Jun 2nd, 2018 @ 8am-1pm
Hidden Valley Camp • 3420 Bob Billings Pkwy • Lawrence, KS • Map

Celebrate National Trails Day at Hidden Valley Camp! Trail work in the morning, followed by guided hikes through this private, unique semi-wilderness camp in the heart of Lawrence!

TRAIL MAINTENANCE: 8 - 11 am. Join a crew to clear back encroaching growth...which is mostly the invasive shrub honeysuckle. Loppers and gloves provided. Wear long pants and sleeves and bring a water bottle.

GUIDED TRAIL HIKES: short, medium and long (over 1 hour) guided hikes will be offered from 11:30 to 1 pm, with short and medium hikes offered about every 15-30 minutes. See a restored prairie and wetland. View our native plants in the Friends Memorial Butterfly Garden, 200' flowering bioswale and other pollinator gardens. See how our native woods restoration is coming along after clearing out so much honeysuckle! Visit the cabin and tree house, or the large yurt for displays by naturalist Ken Lassman and nature photographer Jim Bresnahan. Over two miles of trails to explore over hills, prairie, woods, and streams. No unaccompanied minors, strollers or dogs please. Insect repellent and sturdy, enclosed shoes a must!
