Restoration Realities • Leavenworth County

Saturday, Jun 9th, 2018 @ 9am
26180 Loring Rd. • Lawrence, KS • Map

Are you curious about what it takes to restore a prairie? How do you do it and why does it matter? Join us to learn about the ins and outs of starting a restoration from scratch.

Kim Bellemere with the Grassland Heritage Foundation will discuss how her family began their 2-acre restoration in the spring of 2018 and Jennifer Delisle with the Jayhawk Audubon Society will talk about how the plants in “pocket” prairies and small scale restorations benefit wildlife, particularly birds.

Prairie experts will also be on hand to answer questions and information will be provided by organizations that offer cost-share assistance and other resources.

The event will include a tour of the Bellemere acreage and a 20+ year restoration on a neighboring property so everyone can see what a project looks like at the beginning stages and after many years.

Refreshments will be served and an RSVP is suggested. Email grasslandheritage@gmail.com for the event address, to RSVP, and with questions.

Workshop funding provided by a grant from the National Audubon Society.
