Fall Fun Workday at Hidden Valley Camp • Douglas County

Sunday, Nov 11th, 2018 @ 1-4pm
Hidden Valley Camp • 3420 Bob Billings Pkwy • Lawrence, KS • Map

Please join other volunteers at this large, community-based annual fall workday at Hidden Valley Camp. This 40-acre urban wilderness camp features two miles of trails through prairie, meadows, and woods, crossing many streams and rocky hillsides. For over 60 years, the camp has been managed with both wildlife and youth in mind, and although they only plant native, they are constantly battling invasive species. Please help maintain this unique treasure in the middle of Lawrence!

This very large workday includes work in the pollinator gardens and wetlands, as well as removal of the invasive honeysuckle shrubs and many other routine camp maintenance tasks. Warm up by large fires and enjoy hot cocoa and símores! Check in at The Gathering Place of Maryís Meadow.

All workdays are family friendly, with chores available for all ages. Great for groups and individuals. Wear durable clothing (totally enclosed shoes are a must), bring a water bottle, and protect yourself against the sun and bugs. Parking is limited and carpooling is highly encouraged! Refreshments, tools, and project oversight provided. No unaccompanied minors under 15 please. For those 15 and older, you may request a Hold Harmless form via email for your parent/guardian to sign.

Spontaneous participation is OK, however, RSVPs appreciated! For detailed information, contact the Camp Manager/Volunteer Coordinator: Durand Reiber, at
