Smoky Valley Ranch Visitor's Day • Logan County
Saturday, May 30th, 2009 @ 9am - noon
Oakley, KS • Map
Help celebrate the Kansas Chapter’s 20th Anniversary by joining us in western Kansas at the Conservancy’s Smoky Valley Ranch, a 16,800-acre predominately short grass prairie preserve. The Conservancy staff and leading experts will lead guided tours providing insight on many cultural, historical, geological and biological points of interest. This working cattle ranch is home to many species of mammals and birds and is the site of the recent reintroduction of the federally endangered black-footed ferret. This event will also mark the opening of three new hiking trails at the ranch. The event is free. Please bring your own lunch. Be sure to wear good walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Because of the primitive roads at the ranch, heavy rains could force us to cancel this event on short notice. Reservations are required.
