Memorial Day Weekend Wildflower Tour • Ellis County
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009 @ 9am-12pm
Hays, KS • Map
The BCMSHR WRAPS along with many participating agencies are holding a wildflower tour on the Fort Hays State University rangelands. It is a come and go event and there will be local experts on hand to identify and give a little history/uses of the wildflowers present. Such experts include Mike Haddock (KSU), Keith Harmoney (KSU), and Roger Tacha (NRCS). The event is FREE and all are welcome to participate. Event information can be found at www.MyKansasWatershed.com. The FHSU rangelands are home to many wildflower and grass species. In 2007, 147 species of seeds were collected from the plants with an estimated 180 species present on only 1200 acres!
