Tuesday, Jun 9th, 2009 @ 7pm-sunset
Wamego, KS • Map
The Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee Conservation Districts are hosting a prairie wildflower tour at Mt. Mitchell in Wabaunsee County. Jeff Hansen of the Kansas Native Plant Society is leading the tour. Mt. Mitchell is a glaciated flint hills prairie with good plant diversity. Refreshments will be provided. Please let us know if there are people with special needs, so we can accommodate. The Mount Mitchell Heritage Prairie is located on the east side of Highway 99, three and a half miles south of Wamego or one half mile south of the Junction of K-18 and 99. It is five and a half miles north of the junction of I-70 and K-99. Turn east at ‘Mitchell Prairie Lane’ and bear left, following the dirt road up the hill a half a mile until you get to a mowed parking area on your left.
