Prairie Appreciation Day @ Snyder Prairie • Jackson County
Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 @ 9am-4pm
Mayetta, KS • Map
Participants will be able to walk the prairie and learn about the plant and animal life with experts who are currently working to restore Snyder Prairie to its pre-settlement conditions. You can watch a demonstration about prairie mammals (the GHF Skins and Skulls display) and participate in a microscopic investigation of the things we find on our walk. Participants will also get to meet some of the volunteers that are helping to restore the prairie and possibly help with some restoration activities. GHF will serve a light lunch with sandwiches and drinks for those participants that get hungry walking the trails. Everyone is also encouraged to bring their cameras and sketchbooks. We suggest that everyone wear long pants and sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen and a water bottle. We will also have extra water on hand.
