Plant the Prairie
Saturday, May 8th, 2010 @ 9am-noon
Kansas City, MO • Map
Come help us plant wildflower seedlings grown from locally harvested seeds on three of Kansas City's beautiful remnant natural communities. If there's time, we will remove invasive plants from these areas, too, to give the seedlings plenty of space to grow. Three WildLands sites will be targeted:Ernie Miller Park remnant prairie, Olathe, Kansas, managed by Johnson County Park and Recreation District. Rocky Point Glades, Swope Park, Missouri, managed by Kansas City Missouri Parks and Recreation. Jerry Smith Park prairie, south Kansas City, Missouri, managed by Kansas City Missouri Parks and Recreation. This is a great opportunity to do hands-on restoration and conservation work on our urban area's ever-dwindling wild acres. You will help make a difference to the wild areas of Kansas City that will be evident for years to come! Please note that some of these sites have limited openings, so please register early, especially if you are bringing a group.
