Facing the Storm: Story of the American Bison • Johnson County

Saturday, Oct 2nd, 2010 @ 5-7pm
Overland Park, KS • Map

Location: Glenwood Arts Theatre, 9575 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS.
Should bison be be restored to large tracts of the Great Plains, including western Kansas? The question is addressed in the new feature film, FACING THE STORM: STORY OF THE AMERICAN BISON -- the comprehensive account of our tempestuous relationship with the iconic symbol of wild America. The film recounts the inextricable relationship of the Plains Indians with the animal, and the harrowing near-destruction of the species in the late nineteenth century. Finally, the film explores the epic vision -- and monumental obstacles -- to restore bison to immense tracts of the Great Plains. FACING THE STORM shows us that the American bison is not just an icon of a lost world, but may very well show us the path to the future.
