All KNPS members, and other interested persons, of Jackson, Jefferson, Atchison, Nemaha, Brown, and Doniphan Counties are invited to the first meeting of the northeast Kansas Native Plant Society region. Frank Norman, plant ecologist, botanist, prairie enthusiast, and president of Norman Ecological Consulting, LLC, will present a talk on prairie restoration activities being performed at Snyder Prairie near Mayetta, a 140-acre tract of land owned and managed by Grassland Heritage Foundation. Following his presentation the group will caravan to Snyder Prairie, weather permitting, for refreshments and a tour of this pristine prairie remnant. The group also hopes to plan future meetings at other interesting sites featuring native wildflowers, grasses, and trees in the six-county area. Those who can attend are welcome to bring children and friends. Please RSVP to Fred or Nancy Coombs at firstname.lastname@example.org or 785-872-3463.
