Help The Nature Conservancy and the National Park Service with vital prairie restoration by collecting seeds at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. The seeds collected will be used to restore prior cultivated areas on the preserve. The workdays are a great opportunity to learn more about the prairie plants and about the restoration work that is being done at the Preserve.
Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing, wear sturdy shoes and sun hat, bring drinking water and wear bug spray. Training will be provided. Please be aware that we will encounter warm and hot weather and we will be on areas of the preserve with no shade.
This year, several seed collecting workdays are being planned. Four of the workdays will be on Saturday with two workdays scheduled for Thursday. The dates are as follows: Saturday, June 4 ; Saturday, June 18 ; Thursday, July 7 ; Saturday, July 16 ; Saturday, Aug 6 ; Thursday, Sept 8.
