Stilwell Prairie Work Day
Saturday, Nov 19th, 2011 @ 10am
Stillwell Prairie • Richards, MO • Map
Hearty volunteers with chainsaws and loppers are needed to combat trees and brush at MPF's Stilwell Prairie in Vernon County from 10am until as long as volunteers wish to work. MPF's Prairie Operations Manager Richard Datema will direct volunteers to areas on the prairie needing clearing; most of the work will involve cutting 10-inch or smaller diameter trees with chainsaws, although some lopper work will be needed too. Volunteers will need to provide their own equipment and safety gear. MPF will provide herbicide for treating cut stumps. Those wishing to camp on-site Friday and/or Saturday night are welcome to do so. Directions: One mile east of Richards on Route H, then one mile north on gravel road. RSVP to MPF if you plan to attend.
