Atchison Region Planning Session • Jefferson County

Saturday, Nov 12th, 2011 @ 10am
408 Sycamore Street • Valley Falls, KS • Map

All people interested in wildflower and timber walks in our area are invited to a planning session.

The goal is to get as many local people as possible to share ideas about wildflower events in our six-counties (Jackson, Jefferson, Atchison, Nemaha, Brown, and Doniphan) and to identify future native plant sites in every county of the KNPS Atchison Region by people living in those counties.

We are meeting at Mac's Grill & Pizza in Valley Falls. The owner has reserved a room for the meeting with no obligation to make a purchase. Please indicate that you are there for the KNPS/AR meeting.

KNPS has organized the 105 counties of Kansas into smaller regional groups to facilitate more local wildflower events. Our six-county Atchison Region is unique for its rich glacial deposits which nurture a variety of native tallgrass prairie plants.

Please come prepared with ideas and suggestions for wildflower and timber walks (park, lake, grassland, woods, etc.) in your area, as well as ideas of places to meet or eat in your county and names of people or organizations who may be willing to make a presentation. This will be a public meeting, open to all with interest in wildflowers. A FREE pocket guide to the Wildflowers of the Flint Hills will be given to all those attending!
