Learn the art of making paper from plant fibers in this hands-on class. You will learn about the different types of plant fiber, the process of extracting the fiber from the plant and the process of forming sheets of paper from the resulting fiber. Working in teams of two, each team will process a different plant fiber into paper. Everyone will make paper from each type of fiber. You will also laminate sheets, embed pressed flowers/leaves, emboss sheets and combine fibers. Paper products you will make include bookmarks, note cards, photo mattes and shaped paper. All materials and equipment is supplied. The paper takes two days to dry. Once it is dried it will be sent to your home. Follow the Registration Link to register for this class. The Community Learning Center is located across the street from the library at 308 W. Elm. Enter parking lot from 9th street entrance.
