Meets Monday- Thursday: 8:00am-12:00pm, Great Plains Nature Center, 6232 E 29th St N, Wichita, KS 67220. This course will examine the mosaic of plant communities and their key animal species that have shaped human history inn middle America from Saskatchewan to Texas. Our study will reveal an inspiring portrayal of our region from the works of writers, photographers and scientists. Journeys afield will identify plant assemblages and their roles in the ecology of the Great Plains. Environmental concerns related to soil, water and wildlife and strategies for incorporating our class work into the natural and social sciences and languages will be addressed.
