Hidden Valley Camp • 3420 W. Bob Billings Pkwy • Lawrence, KS • Map
Lawrence Hidden Valley Camp is located at 3420 W. Bob Billings Pkwy, in the center of Lawrence, KS. This 40-acre private, non-profit camp for local Girl Scouts and other youth has been managed with wildlife in mind for over 50 years. Our main focus of this annual fall workday will be clearing out the invasive honeysuckle shrubs and vines. Join scouts, neighbors, community groups and the Friends of Hidden Valley as we clear and burn honeysuckle, as well as other camp maintenance projects, including wetland maintenance, cutting fire wood, stocking woodpiles, cleaning fire rings, mulching trees, and much more; there are tasks for all ages. Most tools and gloves provided, although loppers, handsaws and chainsaws (and the skill to operate them safely) are always needed. Warming fires and refreshments provided by FHV: water, hot cocoa and símores! Dress in layers for the weather and wear durable, totally enclosed shoes. Minors under 15 must be accompanied by an adult, and everyone must sign a waiver.
Parking is limited; please contact Durand Reiber for more information. Rain date is Nov 11.
