Meet at the Casey's General Store in Ozawkie at 1pm. From there, we will carpool to the trail head of the Old Military Trail. The trail is rich with spring woodland wildflowers. Some flowers we hope to see are Dutchman's breeches and trout lilies. Contact Fred & Nancy if you plan to attend.

14 people attended the event.
The late spring weather slowed down the wildflowers, but we were still able to find trout lilies, Dutchman's breeches, and false rue anemone just beginning to bloom. Attendees enjoyed sampling edibles such as violet, waterleaf, pennycress, and garlic mustard. The pod of the bladdernut was examined to find seeds inside. A mourning cloak butterfly showed off to everyone in attendance. A family of four was at the trail head and we asked them to join us on our walk. They enjoyed themselves and were new to KNPS. One person read about the event in the Valley Falls paper. Sadly we noticed bush honeysuckle is starting to invade these woods.
