Class: Field Botany for Great Plains Naturalists • Sedgwick County

This 3 credit hour class meets weekly Monday through Thursday. In our field excursions we will learn the plants of prairies, wetlands, and woodlands and how each is specifically adapted to the landscapes or waterscapes of the Great Plains. Distribution patterns of key species and their importance in the various vegetation types will be measured. The role of Great Plains plants in human history and sustainable management strategies will be examined. Materials useful in classrooms and for field activities will be provided.
