Seed Collecting at Stilwell Prairie

Saturday, Oct 5th, 2013 @ 10am
Stilwell Prairie • Richards, MO • Map

Seed Collecting and Broadcasting at MPF's Stilwell Prairie--Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013. Stillwell prairie is located northeast of Fort Scott, KS a few miles across the KS/MO border.

Please help collect and broadcast prairie grass seed for MPF's restoration efforts at its 376-acre Stilwell Prairie in Vernon County. More than 300 native plant species, including the federally threatened Mead's milkweed, are known from Stilwell, but much restoration work is needed to return the full acreage to its original prairie glory.

We need your help now that prairie grass seed is ripening. Please join MPF board member Scott Lenharth on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Stilwell Prairie at 10:00 a.m. If you have them, please bring hand pruners to facilitate seed collection. Bring a sack lunch, drinking water, and continue volunteer work into the afternoon if you can.

RSVP to Scott Lenharth at scott.lenharth@gmail.com or 512-925-2272. Scott will let you know where to meet at the prairie.
