Plant ID Walk at Swanson Park • Sedgwick County
Wednesday, Jun 11th, 2014 @ 6:30pm
Swanson Park • 1011 N. Maize Road • Wichita, KS • Map
In 1874 Nels Swanson homesteaded 160 acres of land west of Wichita and maintained the land in its natural state. In 1975 most of the original homestead was acquired from the Swanson family. Because the Cowskin Creek runs through it, the City of Wichita made this Greenways area, a park with trails and native vegetation and it is a Wichita Wild designated location. We will meet at the parking lot on Maize Road north of Central at 6:30 p.m. and walk on and off the trail to identify as many plants as possible. Be sure to bring a hat, hiking footwear, camera and bug spray. There is no fee but please send a confirmation email with how many plan to attend.
