Quivira National Wildlife Refuge • 1313A NE 140th Avenue • Stafford, KS • Map
General information: Bioblitz 2015 will be held from 5:00 pm Friday, June 19 through 4:00 pm Saturday, June 20. Bioblitz Headquarters will be the Environmental Education Classroom (EEC), located just south of NE 140th Street blacktop at 1313A NE 140th Avenue (near the Migrants Mile Trail). The Bioblitz Headquarters will serve as a central information center for programs and information, an indoor “Lab” for those researchers (such as plant scientists and entomologists) needing work-space for identifications. It will also have a “Scoreboard” for the species of plants and animals being found. It will also serve as the check-in and refreshment site for all Bioblitz staff. This event is free and designed for people of all ages.
A note to the public: A Bioblitz is a 24-hour period where the public is invited to visit, watch, and/or assist with Bioblitz. There will be some scheduled activity, but there is no specific time to visit. Simply drop in anytime during the event, and stay as long as you wish. There are many opportunities for you to help collect and/or survey, either with researchers or on your own.
A note to Researchers: Free overnight lodging is available for any researchers wishing to begin sampling Friday night. Breakfast and sack lunches will also be provided. All researchers will be provided data forms for recording species identified.
