Pollinator Week – June 19 – 25
June 19 - June 25
Celebrate pollinating insects (and their native plant partners) all year – but especially during 2023 Pollinator Week.
Here are multiple resources for you to investigate for education and activities you can access year around:
Xerxes Society for the Conservation of Invertebrate Insects – the premier insect organization in the US. The website lists their educational books, free webinars, free children’s activity guides, community projects, blog and social media with continuous updates.
Heather Holm‘s website PollinatorsNativePlants.com is an insect and host plant expert who has authored several books on bees, wasps and other pollinating insects and also the native plants they rely on for nesting, feeding larva, sourcing pollen and nectar. Find PDF fact sheet downloads and virtual talk schedules.
iNaturalist entries for insects in Kansas. High quality images with accurate identification.
The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) website devotes an entire section on Pollinators and Host plants. Learn which plants are hosts in ecoregions, how to create a native plant insect friendly garden space, have your garden certified, and find guidance for education and native plant gardens in schools.
