Due to high demand, KNPS has stopped taking Plant A Prairie 2020 applications as of April 25, 2020. Applications received prior to this  date will be considered as planned.
To those who missed out this year, we are very sorry. Please try again in 2021--KNPS will post next year's application on April 1, 2021.

Butterfly Milkweed garden planting

Prairie garden kits will be available this fall to Kansas teachers in a pilot project of the Kansas Native Plant Society. July 1 is the deadline for Plant-A-Prairie applications; plants will be delivered to the classroom in mid-September.

The Plant-A-Prairie garden includes 32 live native plants (8-10 species)—enough for an 8’ x 12’ classroom garden. The kits feature easy-to-grow native plants that are hand-selected by the nursery for local growing conditions. Each kit is loaded with spring/fall blooming plants that support bees, butterflies and birds.

Kansas teachers, K-12 and leaders of youth organizations are eligible to apply. The number of available kits is limited. Click on the links below for more information.
