About KNPS Awards

KNPS provides recognition and support for individuals who are actively supporting  our mission to promote education, stewardship, and scientific research for Kansas’ native plants.  

Rachel Snyder Memorial Landscape Award

Awarded to an individual or organization for a project that promotes the use of native plants in a landscape.

Stephen Timme Excellence in Botany Award

Awarded to an individual who has made an important contribution to botany in the form of research or education in the state of Kansas.

Sheldon and Virginia Cohen Memorial Award for Service to KNPS

Awarded to an individual who has made an important contribution to the Kansas Native Plant Society.

Mary A. Bancroft Memorial Scholarship

The Kansas Native Plant Society offers a $1,000 scholarship in support of graduate student research that enhances our understanding of native plant species or their ecosystems and conservation. This scholarship is open to all graduate students regularly enrolled in a Kansas college or university.  Applications are due each year by March 15 and the recipient will be notified by April 15.  Download the scholarship application.  

Non Profit Funding

The Kansas Native Plant Society (KNPS) commits at least $1,000 each year to fund projects carried out by Kansas
non-profit organizations seeking to advance education about, stewardship of, or research on native plants of Kansas.  Announcement about the Non Profit Funding will be announced each Spring with applications due by August 1.  Awards will be announced after the Fall Board Meeting, usually held in September.  A brief grant report by the recipient will be due by August 1 of the following year.   Download the guidelines and application for non profit funding.
